Nine Inch Nails, Deftones cancel 2021 shows

Nine Inch Nails has canceled all of its scheduled shows for 2021, including appearances at the Louder Than Life and Welcome to Rockville festivals and Riot Fest, while Deftones also have pulled out of Welcome to Rockville.

Nine Inch Nails released the following statement:

“It is with great regret that we are cancelling all NIN appearances for the remainder of this year.

“When originally planned, these shows were intended to be a cathartic and celebratory return to live music. However, with each passing day it’s becoming more apparent we’re not at that place yet.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment and look forward to seeing you again when the time is right.”

Nine Inch Nails was scheduled to perform at Riot Fest in Chicago, Illinois, on Sunday, Sept. 19, and at Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, Sept. 25. Nine Inch Nails and Deftones were set to play Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Thursday, Nov. 11.

According to festival promoter Danny Wimmer Presents, replacement acts will be announced soon for Louder Than Life and Welcome to Rockville. Riot Fest already has added Slipknot as its new Sunday headliner.

NIN shows on Sept. 21 and 23 in Cleveland, Ohio, also have been canceled.
