Bassist James LoMenzo to rejoin Megadeth for upcoming tour

Former Megadeth bassist James LoMenzo will rejoin the band for the upcoming “Metal Tour of the Year,” also featuring Lamb of God, Trivium and Hatebreed.

Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine said: “I’m happy to announce that former bassist and Megadeth alumni James LoMenzo has graciously stepped in on the ‘Metal Tour of the Year.’ Tour rehearsals just began, and we cannot wait to start crushing North America.”

LoMenzo said: “I’m super stoked to be rejoining Megadeth for the upcoming ‘Metal Tour of the Year.’ There are no better fans than Megadeth fans, I can’t wait to get out there and shred some Megadeth music with you all.”

LoMenzo was a member of Megadeth from 2006 to 2010 and performed on the albums “United Abominations” (2007) and “Endgame” (2009). He left when original Megadeth bassist David Ellefson rejoined the band.

Ellefson was fired earlier in 2021 after sexually explicit videos leaked online.

LoMenzo’s credits also include time in Black Label Society and White Lion. Since 2020, he has been a member of Firstborne, featuring former Lamb of God (and, briefly, Megadeth) drummer Chris Adler.

Produced by Live Nation, the “Metal Tour of the Year” will hit 27 cities before wrapping in Quebec City, Quebec, on Saturday, Oct. 2. All previously purchased tickets for any of the rescheduled dates listed below will be valid for the new date. For any cancelled dates, refunds will be processed automatically at your point of purchase.
