Black Label Society is in the studio working on its 12th studio album.
The band has released a photo of Zakk Wylde in the studio working on what will be the follow-up to the 2021 release “Doom Crew Inc.” That album featured Wylde sharing guitar duties for the first time in the studio with Black Label Society, with Dario Lorina, who has been with the band since 2014. Bassist John “J.D.” DeServio and drummer Jeff Fabb complete the current BLS lineup.
Much of Zakk’s time these days is taken up by Pantera, which recently played its first U.S. show in 22 years. The reconstituted lineup features classic members Phil Anselmo (vocals) and Rex Brown (bass), along with Charlie Benante of Anthrax (drums) and Wylde (guitar) replacing the late Abbott brothers, Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell. (This new version of the band reportedly has the blessing of the Abbott brothers’ estates.) An extensive U.S. tour–featuring support slots with Metallica, festival appearances and headline shows–is slated to kick off in summer 2023.
