According to a social media post on July 27, Stabbing Westward vocalist Christopher Hall has been diagnosed with throat cancer, and the band has canceled its live shows scheduled for August and September 2022.
“I’d like to apologize to everyone who made travel plans to see us in August and September,” Hall shared through the band’s Facebook page. “We’ve had to put those shows on hold while I deal with a serious health issue. I’ve been diagnosed with throat cancer. Prognosis is really good but it’s going to involve a couple of surgeries and 6-8 weeks of chemo and radiation. So unfortunately, I won’t be singing anytime soon. I’m hoping to be feeling more human by Halloween and have my voice back by Christmas. So again, sorry for the inconvenience.”
In March of this year, Stabbing Westward released “Chasing Ghosts” (review), its first album since 2001. Hall and Walter Flakus started the band in 1985 and released four albums–“Ungod” (1994), “Wither Blister Burn + Peel” (1996), “Darkest Days” (1998) and “Stabbing Westward” (2001)–before breaking up in 2002. The band reformed in 2015 for various live shows and tours, and started releasing new music in 2020.
