Vocalist Adam Gontier has officially rejoined Three Days Grace, the band he co-founded in 1997 and fronted until early 2013. Matt Walst, who replaced Gontier in the band, will remain with Three Days Grace, as well.
“I feel like it’s been seamless, better than we were expecting,” Gontier said. “It’s like we got back in a room together and picked up where we left off. We have been friends for so long it’s kind of natural to get back in the room together.”
Gontier initially reunited with Three Days Grace in 2023 at a concert in Nashville, Tennessee, performing two songs with them.
“After performing together in Nashville around this time last year and spending time in the studio since,” the band said, “we’re excited to announce the official return of Adam Gontier to vocals in Three Days Grace, with Matt Walst remaining as a lead vocalist, as well.
“More details about new music and touring plans on the way … don’t miss out on what’s to come!”
“It’s been so much fun and inspiring making this record,” Walst said. “Combining over 20 years of Three Days Grace and doing something that no band has ever done. I’m excited for the fans to hear it!”
Three Days Grace released three albums with Matt Walst, the brother of bassist Brad Walst and also the frontman of My Darkest Days, as its singer—”Human” (2015), “Outsider” (2018) and”Explosions” (2022).
After leaving the band, Gontier started Saint Asonia with Staind guitarist Mike Mushok, releasing two full-lengths—”Saint Asonia” (2015) and “Flawed Design” (2019), along with the “Introvert” and “Extrovert” EPs (2022).
While it is not clear how the Three Days Grace reunion will affect Saint Asonia, the band posted a brief message to social media: “Thank you for all of your love and support. We will be back …”
Three Days Grace has released seven full-length albums to date, with more than 20 singles reaching the top 10 on Billboard’s U.S. Mainstream Rock chart and 17 hitting number one.
