Citing projected ticket sales and the increasing cost of touring, metal supergroup Category 7 has canceled what would have been its first tour, set for March 2025 in the United States.
The band released the following statement to social media:
“With the overwhelming competition for the live show dollar, we feel that our projected ticket sales will not be enough for our tour to be profitable, so we have made the painful decision to cancel our tour in March. The cost of touring continues to go up and while we had no illusion of big profits, at least breaking even was a goal which after speaking to our agent and the promoters of the shows did not seem achievable. We appreciate everyone that is enjoying our music and we will continue to attempt to find a way to bring the live show on the road. In making this decision now it will enable everyone to get refunds before Christmas. All vip purchases will be immediately refunded. Thank you again for the support for Category 7.”
Category 7—featuring John Bush (Armored Saint, Anthrax), Phil Demmel (Kerry King, Machine Head), Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob), Jack Gibson (Exodus) and Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall, Overkill)—released its self-titled debut album on July 26 to worldwide critical acclaim. The record debuted at number 8 on the Billboard Rock Chart. The album, released via Metal Blade Records, was produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Mike Orlando at Sonic Stomp Studios with art and layout by Carlos Fides at Artside Studio (Angra, Evergrey, Kamelot).
