Alice in Chains to replace Mötley Crüe at Boardwalk Rock festival

Alice in Chains will replace Mötley Crüe on May 17, 2025, at the inaugural Boardwalk Rock festival in Ocean City, Maryland. Mötley Crüe also earlier postponed a spring residency in Las Vegas, Nevada, while frontman Vince Neil recovers from a recent medical procedure.

Alice in Chains now will co-headline the first day of the festival with Def Leppard. Headliners for day two, May 18, are Nickelback and Shinedown. The lineup also includes Alice Cooper, Three Days Grace, Halestorm, Bush and Chevelle among the 29 total acts over two days.

“Mötley Crüe will be unable to perform at Boardwalk Rock in Ocean City, MD, on May 17 as Vince Neil is recuperating after a required medical procedure recently advised by his doctors,” the band said in a statement. “Vince’s health comes first, and we full support him in prioritizing his recovery. Please join us in wishing him well.

“We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the show and appreciate your understanding. Our friends Alice In Chains are confirmed to take our place on May 17 and we are immensely grateful to them for stepping up and bringing their awesome show to Boardwalk Rock.

“Thank you to all the Crüeheads for your continued support. We can’t wait for Vince to fully recuperate and to be back on stage again soon.”

Boardwalk Rock is being produced by C3 Presents, the promoter behind a number of festivals nationwide, including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and When We Were Young, as well Oceans Calling and Country Calling, both of which also take place in Ocean City, Maryland.
