Rob Zombie to replace Alice in Chains at Boardwalk Rock, Beartooth stepping in at Sonic Temple

Rob Zombie will replace Alice in Chains on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the inaugural Boardwalk Rock festival in Ocean City, Maryland, while Beartooth will take Alice in Chains’ place Sunday, May 11, at the Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio. In addition, Bush is taking over the vacated slot in the lineup of the MMRBQ today (May 10) in Camden, New Jersey.

Alice in Chains has canceled its spring 2025 headline shows and festival appearances after drummer Sean Kinney suffered “a non-life-threatening medical emergency” after soundcheck on Thursday, May 8, before the band’s scheduled show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

“After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming festival performances and the Alice in Chains headline shows,” the band said in a statement released Friday afternoon, May 9. “While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean’s health is our top priority at this moment. Although the issue requires immediate attention, his long-term prognosis is positive.”

The canceled headline shows were set for May 13 in Nashville, Tennessee, and May 17 in Dothan, Tennessee. Alice in Chains also was slated to play the Welcome to Rockville festival on Friday, May 16, in Daytona Beach, Florida; a replacement for that show has yet to be named.

Alice in Chains had joined the Boardwalk Rock lineup after Mötley Crüe canceled all of its spring performances while frontman Vince Neil recovers from a recent medical procedure. The festival also lost a Sunday, May 18, performer due to the recent stage 4 kidney cancer diagnosis for 3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold; the schedule for that day has been adjusted without a replacement act.

New schedules for Boardwalk Rock and Sonic Temple are below.
