Ice Nine Kills hit ‘A Grave Mistake’ certified gold, live album ‘I Heard They Kill Live 2’ out now digitally

As it continues slashin’ its way through the golden age of the “Silver Scream,” playing to sold-out crowds across the United States on its Silver Scream-A-Thon headline tour and at stadium dates with Metallica, Ice Nine Kills is celebrating another career milestone with the news that it has earned its first RIAA-certified gold single for the 2018 fan-favorite “A Grave Mistake.”

Inspired by “The Crow” and taken from album “The Silver Scream,” the track has surpassed 100 million streams.

In an unusually worded, somewhat robotic statement, Ice Nine Kills creative mastermind and frontman Spencer Charnas said: “I am filled with human emotions after ingesting the data that my musical ensemble has achieved a golden status for the very first time. Programmed with a hauntingly harmonic minor cadence, 175 bpm and a 3/4 time signature, it sufficiently garnered more than half a million sales equivalents.”

Fans can hear the band play the freshly minted gold single on its new live album, “I Heard They Kill Live 2,” available digitally here. Captured during a sold-out home state show on Nov. 17, 2022, at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts, the record showcases the energy of the band’s live performances, with a set list that spans the albums “The Silver Scream” and “The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood.”

“Captured in optimal performance conditions during a sold-out operation in the geographical region of Massachusetts, this album contains high-energy sonic outputs calibrated for maximum efficiency,” Charnas said. “As a result, these auditory data files will undoubtedly prove supremely satisfactory to the devoted Ice Nine Kills user base, aka, the Cyclos!”

Physical copies of the album are set to be released Sept. 5 and can be preordered here.

Rounding out this latest round of Ice Nine Kills new, Charnas was the first guest on “Fire with Fire,” a new video series hosted by Ryan J. Downey. In this rare, in-depth sit-down, Charnas talks about his journey into horror, getting banned by Disney, scrapped storylines for the “A Work of Art” music video and more.

“Two months ago, I had a conversation with my colleague and spiritual mentor, the renowned music and pop culture journalist, Ryan J. Downey of Nazareth,” reads a post on Spencer’s official X account. “We discussed musical pursuits as well as the challenges and hardships of life.”
