Sanguisugabogg to release third album ‘Hideous Aftermath’ on Oct. 12

Ohio death metal band Sanguisugabogg will release its third album, “Hideous Aftermath,” on Oct. 10, 2025, via Century Media Records. Pre-order it here.

The band also has a NSFW music video for the new song “Abhorrent Contraception” featuring Josh Welshman of Defeated Sanity.

“As a death metal band diving deep in dark tropes of fantasy and exaggerated real life horrors, this song is a timeless classic with a theme very tried and true with our genre, and it’s about the slaughter of an entire family and the unborn,” the band said.

About the album as a whole, vocalist Devin Swank said, “It’s definitely our most death metal record, our most personal record, our most focused and brutal record to date.”

Known for being THAT band with the unpronounceable name and unreadable logos, Sanguisugabogg has made a record as gore-obsessed and violence-inclined as any of its prior works, including “Tortured Whole” (2021) and “Homicidal Ecstasy” (2023), but with a career-defining command over its ugly art.

“It’s the one where we rolled our sleeves up and brought our A-game,” Swank said.

“Hideous Aftermath” is the work of a band that has cut a bloody swath into the underground and beyond. Sanguisugabogg has emerged from the sweat and grime of countless U.S. and international tours with the likes of Cannibal Corpse, Lorna Shore and Kublai Kahn as well as festival slots and its own headline runs

Enlisting producer Kurt Ballou (Nails, High on Fire) the band decamped to God City Studios in Salem, Massachusetts, in spring 2025.

“We got off the road after A LOT of touring and wanted to drill down and be as purely creative as possible without distraction,” Swank said of the band’s decision to work with the Converge guitarist in Witch City. “Kurt mixed ‘Homicidal Ecstasy,’ so he already understood what we were going for.”

While Sanguisugabogg has long been self-produced with drummer Cory Davidson handling production duties, this time, the band put its sonic trust fully in Ballou’s hands.

“Eight or nine years ago, it seemed like what we were doing was pretty niche,” Swank said. “Where we’ve come, some of the rooms and festivals we’ve played is kind of remarkable.”

Big swings including recent appearances on more “mainstream” rock festivals, including Columbus’ Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville in Daytona, Florida, never were on the band’s charter underground agenda.

“I think we were a band that was set up to do nothing or a lot of something,” Swank said. “Why ‘normies’ ever ended up liking it was weird. Who knows? Maybe we made pain and suffering fun.”
