Dark Divine shares ‘Paper Crown’ featuring Bryan Kuztnitz of Fame on Fire, debut LP ‘Deadly Fun’ due Sept. 8

Dark Divine has shared its new single and video “Paper Crown,” featuring Bryan Kuznitz of Fame on Fire. The song is from the band’s upcoming debut full-length, “Deadly Fun,” due Sept. 8, 2023, via Thriller Records

“I can’t tell you how long we have been holding onto this song, waiting for the right time to release it,” vocalist Anthony Martinez aid. “This was one of the most fun collaborative efforts we have ever done, and I hope that everyone enjoys the video as much as we enjoyed making it. We know people have been anticipating this song’s release for a while, so we wanted to make sure the people got what they were expecting plus some things that they weren’t.

“Bryan Kuznitz is a very dear friend of Dark Divine, and we were so glad he was willing to hop on the song as well as the video.”

“‘Paper Crown’ is a song about confronting people with narcissistic tendencies,” Martinez said. “It is often that we find ourselves putting our own mental health at risk in an effort to please those who only want to hurt us. The toxicity that bleeds from narcissistic personalities can greatly reduce our standards for behavior that we are willing to tolerate.”

Kuznitz said: “’Paper Crown’ was a blast to work on with Dark Divine. They came in with the hook and we worked the whole song around that. It’s got a killer vibe and the lyrics hit hard. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned ou,t and I wish these guys nothing but the best as they continue to grow in the industry.”

The album “Deadly Fun,” produced by Zach Jones (Chelsea Grin, We Came as Romans, Fit for a King), is the follow-up to Dark Divine’s debut EP, “Halloweentown,” released in 2022 via InVogue Records.

“Each song has its own message but the whole album is based on different individuals’ fear of literal, spiritual or emotional death,” Martinez said. “It explores what it’s like going through daily life and never knowing what’s around the corner, down a hallway, or in the basement. Like walking through a mystery funhouse or a creepy carnival. It’s fun but also terrifying at times. Without that fear, everything would be taken for granted.”
