Slayer to reunite at Riot Fest, Louder Than Life

Slayer—bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, guitarists Kerry King and Gary Holt, and drummer Paul Bostaph—is set to reunite in September 2024 to headline two major U.S. festivals, Riot Fest and Louder Than Life.

Slayer last performed live in November 2019 when it wrapped what was billed as its final world tour.

“Nothing compares to the 90 minutes when we’re on stage playing live, sharing that intense energy with our fans,” Araya said, “and to be honest, we have missed that.”

King said: “Have I missed playing live? Absolutely. Slayer means a lot to our fans; they mean a lot to us. It will be five years since we have seen them.”

The performances are set for Sept. 22 at Riot Fest in Chicago, Illinois, and Sept. 27 at Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky.

King recently launched his new solo band—featuring Bostaph, bassist Kyle Sanders (Hellyeah), guitarist Phil Demmel (formerly of Machine Head and Vio-lence) and vocalist Mark Osegueda (Death Angel)—and shared his first single, “Idle Hands.” His debut solo album, “From Hell I Rise,” is due May 17, 2024, via Reigning Phoenix Music (pre-order here), and he is set to support Lamb of God and Mastodon on tour this summer.
