Laurenne/Louhimo unveils new single ‘The Cradle’ from upcoming album ‘Falling Through Stars’

Laurenne/Louhimo—the collaboration between Finnish vocalists Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast) and Netta Laurenne (Smackbound)—has unveiled new single “The Cradle,” taken from the duo’s sophomore album “Falling Through Stars,” set for release on April 18, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl. The single is accompanied by a visualizer, available to view below.

“’The Cradle’ is a song I really love and relate to,” Louhimo said. “I love the atmosphere and the melody of the song – melancholy and hopeful at the same time. I love how mine and Netta’s voices go so well together in the song, ‘like cats in the cradle’.”

Laurenne added: “’The Cradle’ is a lyrical and ethereally melancholic song with musical vibes from the ’80s. It tackles themes of self-doubt and depression. All of us are confronted with sorrow and hardship in this world, and sometimes, we lose sight of what’s good in our lives and fall into the pit of self-pity. I like how Noora and I bring very different tones to the vocals, each reflecting our own cradle of sorrow.”

The idea of a collaboration between Laurenne and Louhimo became a reality once the COVID-19 pandemic started and cleared out calendars for both artists. It felt like a perfect time to start the project and share all the things they have in common, from the same original town to similar idols and influences.

“Falling Through Stars” once again was produced at the Sonic Pump studio under the guidance of Nino Laurenne (who also played the guitars and contributed to the songwriting).

“’Falling Through Stars’ is the second collaborative album with Noora, and it gave us the opportunity to step in and out of our comfort zones to meet halfway,” Laurenne said. “We had a great time writing and recording the album, which I co-produced with my husband, Nino Laurenne. This album takes us on a journey through both the past and future of metal. We’ve aimed to incorporate styles, instruments, and emotions spanning from the ’70s to the present day. It’s a dynamic album that showcases both raw power and delicate moments, and we’re excited to share it with everyone”
