As it does every year, the Blue Ridge Rock Festival is releasing its 2022 lineup one act a time, instead of dumping its full roster of bands all at once. While it may be frustrating for some waiting to decide whether or not to go, it does give each band a bit of the spotlight, even if it’s just for a few hours.
A week after tickets went on sale for the 2022 festival, scheduled for Sept. 8 to 11 at the Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia, 20 acts have been announced:
- Hawthorne Heights
- Memphis May Fire
- Lamb of God
- Comeback Kid
- Killswitch Engage
- Anthrax
- Fire from the Gods
- Smile Empty Soul
- A Skylit Drive (original lineup reunion)
- Jinjer
- Bad Omens
- In Flames
- Nonpoint
- The Union Underground (first show in five years)
- Buckcherry
- Suicide Silence
- Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
- Butcher Babies
- Lacey Sturm
- Kittie (reunion show)
On social media, organizers have dropped hints suggesting Ice Nine Kills, I Prevail and Pierce the Veil will be part of the lineup. They also have said there will be 12 reunions, seven “special performances,” two debuts, one farewell and 12 acoustic sets for VIP ticket-holders.
With a reported 169 acts on the bill this year, expect many more announcements over the next few weeks. Stay tuned.
