Crypta to reissue debut album with bonus 7-inch

Brazilian/Dutch death metal band Crypta dropped one of the most anticipated metal debuts of 2021 with “Echoes of the Soul,” hitting the the U.S. Current Hard Music Albums chart at number 15 and Canadian Hard Music Albums chart at number 13 and receiving massive acclaim from media and fans alike. Now, the band is set to reissue the album bundled with a special bonus 7-inch on April 1, 2022, via Napalm Records.

This release features new song “I Resign,” a lost bonus track from the debut sessions, as well as a live version of “Shadow Within,” a track found on “Echoes of the Soul.”

“’I Resign’ is a song that features elements from most of our main influences, along with characteristics from both our previously released album ‘Echoes of the Soul’ and the new material we’ve been writing,” guitarist Tainá Bergamaschi said. “We tried to blend epic melodies followed by aggressive riffs throughout the track, which, combined with the lyrics, tell a story of despair.”

Vocalist/bassist Fernanda Lira said: “We thought unveiling an unreleased track right now would be a great way of gifting our fans with something nice while they wait for our tours to start! Also, the lyrics, which are more current than ever, are a good food-for-thought while listening to this very special song for us.”

“Echoes of the Soul” and “I Resign” will be available in the following new formats:

  • Back from the Crypt Edition (including “Echoes of the Soul”/“I Resign” 1 LP gatefold silver and 7-inch bonus LP silver)
  • “I Resign” – 7-inch bonus LP black
  • “I Resign” – digital single

Plus, after various formats of “Echoes of the Soul” have been long sold out, the original record is now available again in 1 LP gatefold black.

Formed in June 2019, the four-piece lineup of Crypts consists of vocalist and bassist Fernanda Lira and Luana Dametto on drums (both former members thrash metal frontrunners Nervosa), plus guitarists Sonia Anubis (Cobra Spell, ex-Burning Witches) and Tainá Bergamaschi (ex-Hagbard). “Echoes of the Soul” was recorded in January 2021 at the Family Mob Studio (Brazil), mixed by Arthur Rizk (Code Orange, Powertrip) and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Sepultura). The cover artwork was created by Wes Benscoter, who is internationally famous for his covers for bands such as Slayer, Kreator, Black Sabbath and many more.
