Just in time for Mother’s Day, Ice Nine Kills releases parody cover ‘Jason’s Mom’

Ice Nine Kills has made its Fountains of Wayne parody cover-with-a-twist “Jason’s Mom” available on all streaming platforms. The video originally was released as part of the band’s “Fearless at Home” livestream, which aired in May 2020.

The original release celebrated the 40th anniversary of the classic horror movie “Friday the 13th.” “Jason’s Mom” is an acoustic parody of the one of the deadliest matriarchs in movie history. The performance was dedicated to Adam Schlesinger, whose songwriting and smash hit “Stacy’s Mom” provided the inspiration for the song.

Ice Nine Kills had a bumper year in 2020. When the pandemic hit and touring plans got cut short, the band, guided by its leader Spencer Charnas, quickly pivoted and got to work finding new ways to continue to engage with and entertain its fans–starting with “Jason’s Mom” and going on to include a mini-documentary “The Disney Revenge Show,” the full-length live album “I Heard They Kill Live!!,” a livestream event featuring concert footage cut with an original slasher movie co-written by Charnas and starring horror icon Chop Top Moseley, and the launch of a new fan-based community and app, The Psychos Only Club.

Ending the year with a bang, Charnas guested on the Hollywood Undead hit “Heart of a Champion” along with Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach and appeared as part of the Hollywood Undead House Party Live Stream. Continuing this momentum in 2021, Charnas guested on the Hyro the Hero track “Retaliation Generation” and Sullivan King’s track “Venomous.”
